Yes. Every brand at Petalia — Gleamin, Maree, and Rose Gold Sunless — has been personally tested and vetted by our founder Natalya. We review ingredient lists, certifications, and use the products ourselves before they're listed on the site.

We prioritize clean, gentle formulas, but everyone's skin is different. We always recommend doing a patch test before applying any new product to your face or body — apply a small amount to your inner arm and wait 24 hours. If you have specific skin concerns, consult with a dermatologist before use.

The key is preparation: exfoliate the day before, moisturize dry areas (knees, elbows, ankles), and apply in circular motions with a mitt. Work section by section — legs, then torso, then arms. Wash your hands immediately after each section. Allow to fully dry before dressing.

Most self-tanners last 5–7 days depending on your skin type, how often you exfoliate, and how much you're in water. Moisturizing daily helps extend the life of your tan. Reapply as needed to maintain color.

The self-tanners we carry use DHA (dihydroxyacetone), the industry-standard active ingredient. DHA reacts with amino acids in the top layer of the skin to create color — it does not penetrate deeper layers. We recommend a patch test before first use. If you are pregnant or have a skin condition, consult your doctor before using self-tanning products.

We accept returns on unused, unopened products within 30 days of delivery. Opened products are not eligible for return due to hygiene reasons, unless they arrive damaged or defective. See our full Returns & Shipping page for details.
